I recently saw an Print Ad featuring a list of the 100 things to do in life. There were crazy things like “play air guitar on the steps of Madison Square Garden” or “kiss a famous movie star” to other things like “shave your head bald” or “go backpacking for 5 months across Europe”. Funny & exciting as it may sound…these are like “little wishes” that dwell and exist (deep) inside us. Have you created a list like that? If not please do so.
However, a thought that came to mind was; would we be “fulfilled & complete” if we eventually managed to complete the list of 100 things? I believe many would dare say yes…but if you really drilled down, it simply might not! In reality, even if the 100 things excites us, it might not bring long-term satisfaction.
There are things that we do and seek in life that “we think” will bring us joy and happiness but it is like a never-ending journey in search for the “lost (and elusive) treasure island”. Are there things in your life that “you think” are important but might just be a “mirage”?
One simple test, if you found out you had only 1 year to live…what would be the 100 things to do on your list? Would that list be different from the list you originally had? Try it…and you will begin to understand the things of “Real / True Importance” in your life.
